With the astounding qualitative content being the need of the hour, the advent of digital medium has been a boon for independent creators.
In context to this, major streaming giants have been contributing in creation of original, fresh and thought provoking stories; this has impacted the entire generation of new content creators that aspire to produce stories worth for the audience, and one such attempt is city’s first original web series – Drishtibhram, produced by Piyush Pande Films, and is being released on Amazon Prime, worldwide.
‘Drishtibhram’ is a nine episode web original which is produced in Nagpur, shot in and around the city locations with local cast and crew. This is the first web series from the city which is releasing on such a big scale. It will also be releasing in India simultaneously on MX player, ShemarooMe App, Vodafone Play and prime. The potential reach of the web series will be approximately 100 million viewers.
“Keeping in mind the growing demand of web series and online content, we decided to make a web series in Nagpur. Our aim was to make a world class web series using only local talents”, said Piyush Pande (Producer)
Adding to it he said, “Aditya sharma from Nagpur was given the task to direct the series. And he had done it very well.”
Aditya who has had achieved various awards for his short films had the credibility to execute it to perfection, according to Pande.
The series features Leonard Leo in the lead role, “Being a crime thriller, I wanted to have a perfect cast for the film, and Leonard Leo was my number one choice. He has done numerous theater shows all over India.. His acting skills have always impressed me beyond words”, said Sharma.
“ It was a challenge to play a character of an accused killer. I had to be calm but aggressive in words as a lead. All the actors in this web series have acted brilliantly, complementing each other” briefed Leo about his experience.
The entire run-time of the show has been shot by city’s ace cinematographer Kundan Sad. “This product is only possible due to true determination of the entire team. Everybody was way too dedicated for this project to shoot with great spirit and a decisive surrounding” exclaimed Kundan.
The entire production needs were handled by Chetan Gughane, “We were ready head to toe to bring out a product of high standard from the city and it was our collective determination that made it happen”
The entire visual post production of the series was done by Pawan Piprode. The entire original background score along with the main theme is designed, composed and arranged by Ambar Bhartiya who has composed music for a few feature films previously, “The major task was creating a main theme that resonates accurately with the plot. Thereafter the challenge was infusing that theme in various situations across all the episodes. The character development is so strong that each of them needed a distinct sounding palette.” Explained Ambar from a technical viewpoint. Written by Ankit Bhuptani, Drishtibhram is a crime thriller where a psychologist is summoned to profile an accused criminal Shivam Bhargav.
